Milaca has a new 4-way stop at the intersection of 1st Street Southeast and Central Avenue! This 4-way stop was formally requested by the City of Milaca on September 1, 2020. Mille Lacs County Public Works then reviewed the site, reviewed accident reports, evaluated line of sight restrictions, and coordinated with MnDOT to make a change. It was determined that adding two more stop signs would increase both pedestrian and vehicular traffic safety at this intersection.
This 4-way stop was approved by the Mille Lacs County Board of Commissioners at the October 6, 2020 County Board Meeting. The changes were then put into place on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, along with advance warning signs and flags to assist the public with adjusting to the new traffic pattern. Two “Stop Ahead” legends were also painted as additional advanced notification measures. Mille Lacs County Public Works aims to ensure public safety within our community.
